"During the first year of Jack’s life he experienced trauma. I do not fully know what happened in that year as he was not in our home. He is now 5 and as a result of his trauma, he has ADHD, anxiety and difficulty with Sensory Integration. Jack can be the sweetest, most caring child, but he can also thrash out to the point that I fear he could hurt himself or someone else. These event were happening almost every night. In searching for help from other parents, I was told about Charlotte Reiki for Kids. I was up for anything and signed him up.
Our first session, Jack was told that he would be “playing” with some new friends similar to his experience with OT. He was nervous, insisted on taking his security blanket, and clung to me. However, after the session started, he sat down and drew on the white board for most of the time. He never sits and does not like drawing. He was calm. I was shocked. After the session, I was buckling him up and asked if he knew why we came. His response was “So I don’t cry so much”. He got it. He was calm with minimal outburst for days. I felt it was the miracle we had been looking for.
Now that we have been to several sessions, he is excited to go and walks in willingly. He now plays and interacts with the practitioners. He is still an energetic little boy, but he has a calm spirit about him that is carrying over into the rest of his week. Things that would normally push him over the edge he can now handle."
